1. IT IS AS CALORIE DENSE AS FATS (so yes, you need to include these in your calorie counting)
- Vodka is the alcohol with the lowest calorie count with 100 calories per 50ml shot (think vodka, lime and soda or sugar-free soft drink). Next is gin and tequila with 110 cals per 50ml shot.
2. ALCOHOL IS A FAT-SUPPRESSOR
What this means is when it is present in your system, your body will not burn fat as a fuel source.
Your body recognises it as a ‘poison’ and works to get it out of the system before burning fat.
So, if you are a 'glass of wine a night' kind of gal, your system is constantly 'topped up' with alcohol and therefore constantly limits your body's ability to use fat as a fuel.
